I2Psnark does not give beginners timely feedback when creating torrents

Post by Dr.Doom »

Hey community,
If you create a torrent with I2PSNARK, the message is displayed in the information window at the top that the torrent file has been added.
Most of the time it takes at least 30-60 seconds before the torrent is really displayed in the share. The larger a file seems, the longer it seems to take until a torrent file with i2PSnark has been created.
This can lead to irritation, especially with new I2P users.

My idea of improvement would be:

1. If an I2PSNARK user creates a torrent file, the first message in the information window appears that the desired torrent file for sharing is created in the process.

2. As soon as the torrent file has been created, the user gets the information that the torrent file has been added in the Share Directory.

With these 2 information reports, new i2psnark users have an overview that the creation of their torrent works.
There is no longer a situation that a new i2psnark user deletes the torrent file out of the share order because he thinks the creation does not work. Just because the waiting time can be his longer when creating a torrent.

Otherwise your network is really cool.
I celebrate I2P!

Keep it up!!!

Thanks for the suggestion, I'll look into it.

Reading in huge files to calculate infohashes takes a while, there's no way around it.

I thought he was talking about the refresh time, Nothing happens after you click the button for 30 seconds if your refresh time is 30 seconds.

Maybe. The default refresh is 15s now but older installs may have it higher.

Hopefully OP can give us some more insight.
